Using Design to Empower & Create Social Change

Emily Pilloton talks at TED about her organization, Project H, and the work that Project H is doing in engaging high school students from rural Bertie County, North Carolina to redesign their school system and educational experience.

Project H engages the design of spaces, objects, and experiences as well as considering the redesign of the systems that will allow design changes to occur.  A wonderful summary of the influence that specific contexts have on the design of change, and how the frame of “designing with, not for” can affect the quality of changes made to systems as well as the success and sustainability of the adoption of these changes.

Inspirational.
